Job description


 We are seeking a full-time Assistant Parts Manager to organize and conduct operations of the parts processing within our restoration and specialty automotive shop. This role is responsible not only for sourcing and purchasing parts, but also for building and maintaining systems that improve organization, reduce technician downtime, and protect project schedules.

 This is not a basic parts counter position. The right person will think mechanically, work proactively, and continuously improve how our shop manages parts from sourcing through installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and procure parts for classic and specialty vehicles
  • Identify variations across model years, drivetrains, and production changes
  • Read and interpret diagrams, parts books, and technical documentation
  • Cross-reference part numbers and verify compatibility before installation
  • Inspect and verify parts upon arrival for accuracy and quality
  • Manage returns, warranty claims, core exchanges, inventory and distribution
  • Maintain organized staging and documentation
  • Communicate delays or issues proactively to project management
  • Develop and refine processes that improve efficiency and reduce costly errors
  • Administer and maintain a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the manufacturer
  • Ensure full complience with manufacturer parts and warranty policies, procedures and rules.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in automotive field or business is a plus
  • Mechanical understanding of automotive systems (suspension, braking, drivetrain, electrical, cooling, etc.)
  • Experience with classic, restoration, or specialty vehicles strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Willingness to research hard-to-find or obsolete parts that are no longer available
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive communication and problem-solving mindset
  • Cost awareness and understanding of how parts purchasing decisions impact project budgets
  • Driver's License + clean driving record
  • Speak and write effectively in English with excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills
  • Able to lift heavy and sometimes awkwardly-sized items
  • Experience with Shop-Ware a plus.
