Job description

The Assistant Parts Manager supports the Parts Manager by overseeing inventory control, processing orders, supervising a dynamic team, and managing the receiving of shipments. This role typically involves working closely with a small team of people and utilizing a combination of tools and systems for efficient parts tracking and management.


Responsibilities

  • Department Operations
    • Assist in leading an AMAZING parts department
    • Provide support to the service and sales departments
    • Guide employees with customer service, parts sales, inventory, reconciliation of receipts, complicated transactions
    • Assign tasks to team members
    • Provide training for parts associates
    • Assist in the development and retention of team members
    • Monitor department activities and report areas for improvement to Parts Manager
    • Enforce company policies and procedures, including emergency plan and safety rules, and provide training where needed
    • Fill in when needed, such as during absences or busy times
  • Customer Service
    • Ensure exceptional customer service, greeting and assisting customers, responding promptly and professionally, and handling customer inquiries and complaints
    • Instruct customers on basic use and procedures; direct customers to the appropriate resource for information, when needed
    • Monitor activities to ensure customers receive proper parts and receive exceptional customer service, in person and by phone
  • Inventory
    • Assist in maintaining department inventory for resale and for service, working with other store locations on inventory and ordering
    • Examine merchandise to ensure it is correctly priced and displayed
    • Authorize payments and merchandise returns
    • Freight out parts


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a parts department or equivalent
  • Previous experience leading, training and developing others preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills, including conflict resolution and communication
  • Strong computer and technical skills
  • Strong organization skills, promoting a clean and safe working environment
  • Ability to repeatedly lift up to 75 pounds, with or without accommodation, and stand for extended periods of time
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain
