Job description

Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to maintenance team members in a variety of interior and exterior projects, preventive maintenance, landscaping, snow removal, exterior maintenance, and continual upkeep of Casino complex property. The position is responsible for providing attentive, cheerful, courteous, professional customer service to all customers, internal and external, striving to always exceed their expectations.

Essential Functions: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

  • Assign work tasks and inspects completed work for quality standards and monitors deadlines.
  • Supervise and guide assigned team members as directed.
  • Prepare and schedule maintenance work tasks based on operational needs.
  • Order and ensure materials are available for tasks and ensures tasks are completed on time.
  • Ensure team members follow safe work practices and use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Ensure work orders are completed and meet quality standards.
  • Train team members on new procedures.
  • Maintain building records; i.e. work orders and equipment locations.
  • Schedule maintenance staff to optimize productivity.

Additional Responsibilities: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)

  • Communicate and coordinate work activities with maintenance manager for smooth operation within the Maintenance Department.
  • Assist manager with interviewing applicants and makes recommendations on hiring and disciplinary actions.
  • Monitor hotel pool maintenance.
  • Monitor and schedule maintenance and repairs of shuttles and company vehicles in the St. Ignace site.
  • Utilize resources when assigned tasks to determine the best team member for each task.
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are in good working order.
  • All other job-related duties as assigned.

Contacts: Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, executives, Board of Directors, customers and outside vendor/service providers.

Physical Requirements: Position medium with lifting of 50 pounds maximum and frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. Physical factors include frequent standing, sitting, pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, manual handling and bending; occasional walking, sitting, use of hearing, smell, near/midrange/far vision, depth perception and color/field of vision. Working conditions include frequent exposure to weather, noise, vibration and air quality and occasional exposure to heat/cold and wet/humidity. Potential hazards include frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, electric shock, and equipment and occasional exposure to high exposed places, chemicals, insecticides/pesticides, infectious exposure and computer use.

Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Five years of experience in building maintenance and/or construction field required. Two years of supervisory experience required.

Certification/License: Pool and Spa Certification preferred. Must undergo a Criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to operate a 3/4-ton pickup truck with plow preferred. Must have basic math (skills). Must have basic knowledge of maintenance tools and equipment. Must have knowledge in a variety of trades such as plumbing, carpentry and HVAC. Must have good decision-making skills. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be able to work under pressure and handle difficult situations. Must have excellent public relation/customer service skills and be able to exhibit a friendly and positive attitude. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public. Must be able to encourage team members to work in a team environment. Native American preferred.

Will be required to have a Criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.
