POSITION TITLE: Assistant Housekeeping Supervisor
DATE: April 2026
CLASSIFICATION: Project Staff
REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Supervisor/ Director of Facilities
LOCATION: District-wide
FLSA STATUS: Non- Exempt
POSITION GOAL & BASIC FUNCTION:
Maintain high standards within the Housekeeping Department to provide quality service to students, faculty and staff in a pleasant manner. Responsible for assistance of supervision of the housekeeping functions for assigned buildings and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in developing and implementing housekeeping schedules for daily operational and special function needs.
  2. Provide frequent performance evaluations to the Housekeeping Supervisor for a written annual conference with housekeeping staff.
  3. Inspection of all areas district-wide to ensure that work is being carried out in a proper and consistent manner.
  4. Conduct and/or assist with the training requirements of the Housekeeping Department, to include newly hired employees and continual training of staff, when needed. Conduct classroom type and hands-on training for all housekeeping personnel.
  5. Assist with interviews for the selection of candidates to fill vacant positions when needed.
  6. Establish and maintain inter-departmental relations with Administrative personnel, faculty and staff.
  7. Provide feedback to the Housekeeping Supervisor for selection of new cleaning products, materials and equipment.
  8. Report all accidents to the Housekeeping Supervisor and Director of Facilities in a timely manner.
  9. Assist in assigning relief coverage to fill in for absentee personnel.
  10. Maintain all pertinent records, reports and other paperwork as needed.
  11. Assist Housekeeping Supervisor in requesting and receiving all cleaning supplies and equipment. Maintain proper inventory at assigned buildings.
  12. Knowledge of building functions, meetings, sports events, dances, school fairs, etc. and prepare custodial support for said functions when budget approval is confirmed.
  13. Assist in reviewing and approving daily and weekly work schedules and time cards.
  14. Serve as the back-up to review daily attendance activity and monitor staff attendance.
  15. Assist in reviewing and recording housekeeping staff overtime.
  16. Assist in the development of summer cleaning schedules in coordination with the Housekeeping Supervisor and Director of Facilities to include scheduling needs of the buildings, staff, summer workers, and materials.
  17. Participate at meetings as district representative for housekeeping issues.
  18. Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with staff, students, parents and the public; must have excellent communication skills.
  19. During Housekeeping Supervisor absences (sick, vacation, personnel, etc) temporarily assume the daily responsibilities of the Housekeeping Supervisor, as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Director of Facilities.
  20. In the event of staff shortage, able to temporarily assist in daily housekeeping duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Previous staff supervision preferred.
  3. Ability to instruct housekeeping personnel in the performance of manual tasks, customer service and equipment use as needed for duties.
  4. Understanding of the CMI (Cleaning Management Institute) standards and training requirements; or ability to learn.
  5. Self-starter and able to work as a team member with minimum supervision and have a neat / clean appearance.
  6. Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
  7. Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.
  8. Must be able to work second shift; ability to switch to first shift during the district's summer hour schedule.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  1. 12 months, 8 hours per day.
