Job description

Our client, a well-established and growing Alberta-based retail organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to join their leadership team. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Controller will provide strategic financial leadership while overseeing accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, inventory controls, risk management, payroll oversight, and business systems across a multi-location operation.
What you'll do:
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, cash flow forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, physical inventory counts, and internal controls.
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, tax compliance, payroll oversight, and insurance programs.
  • Coordinate external review engagements, audits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with senior leadership to support strategic planning, budgeting, and business performance initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and technology enhancements across finance and operations.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and controls that protect company assets and support continued growth.
Who you are:
  • CPA designation required.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably within a retail, distribution, or multi-location environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, inventory management, and internal controls.
  • Experience with Microsoft ERP systems considered an asset
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
