ABOUT THE ROLE


At CarePros, finance is more than reporting and compliance, it is a critical driver of sustainable growth, operational excellence, and organizational impact.

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Controller to lead and oversee the financial operations of CarePros and its related entities. This role is ideal for a experienced finance leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and brings proven experience managing multi-entity organizations, financial strategy, operational accounting, and team leadership.

The Controller will play a key role in strengthening financial infrastructure, supporting executive decision-making, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping position the organization for continued growth and diversification.

This is not an entry-level leadership opportunity. We are looking for someone who has successfully operated in a Controller capacity before and can confidently lead sophisticated financial operations with minimal oversight.

Working closely with executive leadership, the Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow management, budgeting, audit coordination, and financial process optimization across multiple entities and business streams.

YOUR ROLE IN ACTION


Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversee financial reporting across multiple entities and operational divisions
  • Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Coordinate annual audits, government audits, and external reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulatory obligations


Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning

  • Lead organizational budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Develop financial models, projections, and long-range financial plans
  • Generate operational and strategic financial forecasts to support organizational growth
  • Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis and recommendations
  • Support leadership with data-driven decision-making and financial planning initiatives

Operational Accounting & Cash Flow Management

  • Oversee all accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll oversight, reconciliations, and general ledger activities
  • Manage organizational cash flow, including movement of funds between entities
  • Monitor liquidity and support effective treasury and banking management
  • Ensure accurate and timely government remittances, filings, and reporting

Contract Management & Project Accounting

  • Support financial evaluation and costing of contracts, projects, and funding agreements
  • Lead financial oversight related to government-funded programs and contracts
  • Support grant management, applications, tracking, and reporting requirements
  • Provide project accounting support and financial analysis across operational initiatives
  • Participate in financial risk assessment and contract review processes

Industry & Entity Oversight

  • Support financial operations related to:
  • Human services and government-funded programming
  • Real estate investments and related entities
  • Technology and innovation initiatives
  • Multi-entity corporate structures
  • Ensure strong financial controls and accountability across all business areas


Team Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Supervise and support finance department staff
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and professional development within the finance team
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, workflows, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
  • Champion modernization, automation, and scalable financial processes

QUALIFICATIONS


Education & Credentials


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA designation is required


Experience


  • Prior success operating in a Controller role is required
  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience
  • Proven ability to oversee financial operations across multiple entities
  • Strong familiarity with government contracts, audits, funding models, and grant management
  • Background in complex, growth-oriented organizations is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in month-end close and financial reporting
  • Exposure to retail banking and/or private loan management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example, support or mentor others
  • Advanced capability in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Experience supervising and mentoring finance staff
  • Ability to provide strategic financial guidance to executive leadership
  • Established expertise in real estate, project accounting, and/or technology-related organizations is an asset
  • Exposure in the Human Services sector is considered an asset
