Job description

Our client, a dynamic and growing company located in downtown Calgary, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Temporary Finance Manager to support their finance function during a key transition. This role will take ownership of the full-cycle accounting operations and play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective cash flow management.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and payment processing
  • Perform revenue reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and ongoing cash flow monitoring
  • Lead month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit tax filings in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Handle intercompany transactions and reporting
  • Produce timely and accurate management reporting to support business decisions
  • Maintain and optimize financial processes using Xero and supporting tools (Dext, ApprovalMax)
  • Liaise with external payroll providers and ensure accurate payroll processing
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the finance function
Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a senior accounting or Assistant Controller/Finance Manager-level role
  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
  • Experience with cash flow management and forecasting
  • Proficiency with Xero or similar cloud-based accounting systems
  • Familiarity with Dext and ApprovalMax is considered an asset
  • Strong Excel skills and overall systems proficiency
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
