Applications administrators install, modify, and maintain software and programs that a business uses for its day-to-day operations. As an applications administrator, you monitor the needs to the company and make adjustments to the systems as necessary, troubleshoot problems, evaluate new technology, and implement your recommendations. Additional job duties include researching and testing software patches and updates, configuring new features, managing user access, onboarding and offboarding, and training users on new features. You also handle any license utilization required and ensure company data is secure at all times. Applications administrators must also create reports, write custom coding if needed, and stay updated on the current and future version of the business’ system.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The primary purpose of the Applications Administrator is to participate in the overall design, implementation and ongoing management of applications and services that support the business needs. Work with business and technical organizations to define and implement solutions to improve current and future business plans and objectives.  Provides support services to internal and external customers for complex, technical and configuration issues related to production applications. Manages the effective use of existing applications and evaluates business and end user needs to ensure their alignment with the overall organizational strategies.Â
The Applications Administrator is also responsible for planning and coordinating the processes required for the provision of user applications and systems necessary for business operations. This individual guides and assists the user group on issues related to the design, development and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.Â
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
·        Ensure application meet business requirements and system goals, fulfill end-user requirements and identify and help resolve systems issues
·        Effectively communicate with all levels of organization
·        Serve as expert (SME = Subject Matter Expert) in the front and back end of all applications
·        Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems
·        Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications
·        Evaluate, install, configure and deploy new applications, systems software, products and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise
·        Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality. Contribute to pre-testing phase of development by evaluation proposals in order to identify potential problem areas, and make the appropriate recommendations
·        Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications
·        Develop and communicate training and documentation for end users
·        Act as liaison between the business and IT
·        Process Improvement: Continuously reviews, recommends and implements improvement steps, as needed or directed.
·        Seeks supervisory guidance/approval as appropriate.
·        Portrays professional image: follows dress code, communicates with internal and external customers in a professional manner, including appropriate verbal and written grammar.
·        Promotes and demonstrates professional standards to enhance the development of the department.
·        Practices ethical conduct.
·        Meets acceptable attendance and punctuality expectations (excluding FMLA)

QUALIFICATIONS:
·        Education: Bachelor's degree with major in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related area preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
·        Experience: Four year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, Must have experience in Information Systems, preferably in an insurance setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
·        Office environment with moderate noise level.
·        Frequent sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, and long periods working at a computer.
·        Occasionally walking, standing, twisting/turning and reaching upward or forward during work day.
