Job description

Job Title: Application Administrator
Location: Nashville, TN/Hybrid
Duration: 12+ Months
TSAC Application Administrator
Tennessee Higher Education Commission is looking for an experienced Application Administrator to join our IT team. This role involves working closely with another Application Administrator to support server application tasks. In addition, the contractor will coordinate with the Desktop Support team to provide minimal desktop support when additional assistance for that team is needed. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and a collaborative mindset to contribute to our IT department's success.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Work with a development team to install, configure, and maintain enterprise applications.
โ€ข Provide support for application-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving software problems.
โ€ข Monitor application performance, ensuring availability and identifying potential issues.
โ€ข Plan and execute software updates and upgrades.
โ€ข Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures for applications.
โ€ข Implement and manage security measures to protect applications.
โ€ข Create and maintain documentation for application configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
โ€ข Provide technical support to end-users for desktop, laptop, and peripheral issues as needed.
โ€ข Respond to and resolve technical incidents and service requests promptly.
โ€ข Use collaborative development tools and IT tracking systems, including Team Foundation Server (TFS), Development Operations (DevOps), Zendesk, and ServiceNow.
โ€ข Install, configure, and troubleshoot software applications and operating systems on desktops and laptops when required.
โ€ข Provide remote support to users in different locations using remote desktop tools and technologies.
โ€ข Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex technical issues and implement IT projects.
Minimum Requirements
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
โ€ข Minimum of 5 years of experience in application administration.
โ€ข Proficiency in managing enterprise applications.
โ€ข Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems.
โ€ข Experience with Hyper-V or VMWare and provisioning servers in clustered environments.
โ€ข Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols.
โ€ข Knowledge of IT security best practices.
โ€ข Understanding of PowerShell scripting for automation and system management.
โ€ข Experience with SQL Server database administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management.
โ€ข Manage and maintain Internet Information Services (IIS), including configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
โ€ข Install, renew, and manage SSL Certificates to ensure secure communication.
โ€ข Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
โ€ข Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
โ€ข Ability to read and write system documentation, and effectively communicate technical topics to business stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
โ€ข Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
โ€ข May require occasional evening or weekend work for system maintenance or emergencies.
