Job description

SUMMARY

The Business Development Officer is responsible for actively engaging in the sales process and a partner relationship to ensure the attainment of individual and department goals and objectives: contributes to the profitability and growth of the bank by building, developing, and managing new and expanded client relationships. The position will generate and grow quality Commercial, C&I, SBA, Real Estate Lending, Consumer and Commercial Equipment Leasing. In addition, the position will market deposit products, further contributing to the Bank’s growth. This position will leverage customer leads and other lead generating techniques to identify new prospects and cross-selling opportunities; conducts discussion with prospects to understand background, identify needs, and clearly communicate potential solutions

Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position including but not limited to the following: GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation DD (Truth in Savings Act) Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd Frank Act), Elder Abuse Laws, Bank Secrecy Act in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Customer Information Program, Right to Financial Privacy Act (state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act.


REQUIRED DUTIES

1. 80% Outside Sales Efforts

2. Generates new business through prospecting, outside calling, networking and referrals. Makes a substantial number of outside, in-person calls on prospects and clients, requiring extensive automobile travel.

3. Develops business relationships in the community, directly and through referral base and executes sales strategies, marketing plan and business development programs.

4. Calls on and collaborates with prospects and existing clients to determine if their financial needs and formulates a relationship development plan that specifies ways in which products and services can meet their business or personal objectives.

5. Maintains an awareness of marketplace products, practices, rates and changes to ensure capitalizes on competitive opportunities.

6. Handles a high volume of phone calls with professionalism and delivering exceptional customer service.

7. Maintains working knowledge of commercial loans, business deposit products, foreign exchange, trade finance, cash management and investment referral opportunities.

8. Produces loan packages that are within the creditworthiness and compliance with Commercial, C&I or SBA guidelines. This may include the review and analysis of income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, projected financials and further collateral analysis.

9. Generate appropriate transactions, produce lending packages and communicate with Credit regarding opportunities.

10. Works with the marketing, sales, and product development teams to implement business development initiatives.

11. Interacts in an effective and professional manner with all levels of Bank personnel, corporate and bank clients demonstrating commitment to quality client service.

12. Represents Hanmi Bank by actively participating in outside civic and community affairs, business and industry-related organizations, and other professional activities as appropriate.

13. Responsible for tracking individual performance goals and results in a timely and accurate manner for reporting purposes.

14. Maintains knowledge of the Company’s underwriting and lending guidelines.

15. Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; upholds organizational values; accepts responsibility for own actions.

16. Follows policies and procedures; completes tasks correctly and on time; supports the company’s goals and values.

17. Performs the position safely, without endangering the health or safety to themselves or others and will be expected to report potentially unsafe conditions. The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one’s own actions and conduct.

18. Performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or 1 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Comprehensive knowledge of bank products and services including Bank Secrecy Act compliance is required.

• Strong knowledge of various phases of sales management, including planning, goal setting, project/time management and selling techniques.

• Excellent business development and client relationship skills.

• Proven new business development / Origination experience

• Detail orientated with exceptional sales and analytical skills.

• Requires the ability to create and conduct presentations and prepare final proposals for qualified prospects as a final step in establishing financial relationships.

• Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software programs.

• Intermediate math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.

• Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees.

• Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

• Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in all lending activities and terminology.

• Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.

• Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

• Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.

• Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.


Pay $54,200 - $86,900 per year. The salary reflects the full, reasonably expected salary range for this position. Salary is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates may be eligible for bonus, stock, commissions, and incentives at the Company’s sole discretion. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, which vary depending on the position ultimately offered. All employees are offered paid sick time off. Depending on the position offered, benefits packages may include vacation leave; paid holidays; medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance packages for employees and dependents; various other voluntary benefit offers, and optional retirement accounts.
