Job description

Position Overview:

The Accounting Systems Analyst serves as a liaison between Finance, Accounting, and Information Technology to support, maintain, and enhance financial systems and reporting processes. This role ensures system integrity, supports month-end close activities, provides ERP support, strengthens internal controls (SOX), and drives process improvements across Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Record-to-Report cycles.

The position requires a knowledge of accounting principles, ERP systems (e.g., Oracle R12), and data/reporting tools (e.g., Tableau), with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Accountabilities:

Financial Systems Management

  • Act as a resource for system-related issue resolution and troubleshooting. Providing support for ERP systems (e.g., Oracle R12 Financials).

  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Information Technology to align system capabilities with business needs.

  • Provide training and support to end users on financial systems and reporting tools.

Month-End Accounting Close

  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data across subledgers and the general ledger.

  • Compile and process journal entries in the General Ledger and reconcile accounts.

  • Analyze General Ledger account variances and provide write-ups as needed.

  • Support and optimize close processes, including journal entry workflows, reconciliations, and consolidations.

  • Develop reports and dashboards (e.g., Tableau) for financial analysis.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities and gather business requirements to streamline financial processes and reduce manual effort.

  • Partner with Information Technology, Finance, and Over-all business to test and implement process changes.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the cooperative.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure financial systems and processes comply with internal control requirements.

  • Maintain department system workflows, controls, and procedures for standardization across business units and audit readiness.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing system documentation, data extracts, and control evidence.

  • Monitor and remediate control deficiencies related to financial systems.

Data Integrity & Analysis

  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial master data (vendors, customers, items, product costs, milk pricing, and General Ledger accounts).

  • Perform data validation, reconciliations, and exception analysis within the General ledger.

  • Investigate and resolve system or data discrepancies impacting financial statements.

  • Support advanced data analysis and reporting using tools such as Excel, Financial reporting, and Tableau.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, or related field.

  2. 2-3+ years of experience in accounting, financial systems, or business analyst.

  3. Working knowledge of accounting principles.

  4. Strong analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills.

  5. Ability to manage complexity, ambiguity, and timesensitive decisions in a fastpaced environment.

  6. Analytical mindset with attention to detail and data accuracy.

  7. Process-oriented with a continuous improvement focus.

  8. Effective communication skills-ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical users.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in dairy, food manufacturing, or agricultural cooperatives preferred.

  2. Hands-on experience with ERP and EPM/Hyperion systems (Oracle R12 (GL, AP, AR, FA, Cost Management strongly preferred).

  3. Reporting Tools: Tableau, Power BI, or similar.

  4. Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, macros optional).

  5. Data analysis and reconciliation techniques.
