Job Title: Accounts Payable Supervisor

Job Type: Full Time; Salary 

Join American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) as an Accounts Payable Supervisor where you will lead the Accounts Payable team in the accurate and timely maintenance of financial transaction while ensuring the accuracy of accounting entries to the subledger and reconciles with the General Ledger. You will also prepare complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.

What you will be doing... Your IMPACT

  • Manage the hiring, development, and discipline of Team Members.
  • Test and analyzes upgrades, fixes, and quarterly updates to the AP system.
  • Processes invoices for payment.
  • Verifies the accuracy of data entered into the AP system and coaches the team on any corrective measures needed to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Manages the annual preparation of 1099M reports for vendors and the IRS.
  • Provides customer service support and handles escalated inquiries of both internal and external customers.
  • Completes and responds to external audit requests. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned. 

 

What we are looking for...

You will need to have:

  • 5+ years of previous accounts payable competence in a transportation environment is preferred and working knowledge of the 1099M process.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office software, Oracle, and other financial systems.  

Even better if you have:

  • B.S. degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Competence in general financial and accounting principles and processes.
  • General knowledge around continuous improvement or lean concepts is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of SEC and other government regulations is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of Sox legislation is a plus.
