Job description
What You'll Do:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Program Planning and Development: Plans, designs, and develops educational programs for judges, magistrates, court personnel, and other assigned audiences; Conducts needs assessments and analyzes results, sharing findings with planning committees; Designs curriculum with stakeholders and contributes to online course development; Estimates costs, monitors expenses, and selects/negotiates faculty fees; Coordinates logistics and conducts planning meetings, ensuring alignment with adult learning theory; Writes course objectives and announcements; reviews and approves course content; Requests accreditation and provides justification for course credits.
Event Management: Leads and supports faculty and participants during educational events, ensuring high-quality experiences; Hosts webinars, providing leadership and support to faculty and participants; Sets up, troubleshoots, and ensures technology functions properly at in-person events; Supervises registration, engages with participants, and resolves issues during sessions; Monitors program progress and gathers feedback to improve future courses.
Post-Course Management: Analyzes course evaluations, shares results with stakeholders, and integrates feedback into future planning; Sends thank you messages to faculty and leads debrief meetings for continuous improvement; Ensures course materials are archived in compliance with standards; Manages financial resources, analyzes trends, and forecasts future needs.
Legal Research, Rule Analysis, and Education Administration: Conducts legal research and analyzes legislation, statutes, case law, and court rules affecting judicial education and Judicial College operations. Assists with the development and review of educational resources, drafting of rule amendments, documents, processes, and contracts, as needed. Advises Judicial College staff regarding legal education needs and emerging issues impacting judicial officers.
Collaboration and Process Improvement: Participates in meetings to enhance processes, customer service, and educational offerings.
Compliance and Contribution: Contributes to the writing of Judicial College procedures and policies and ensures compliance.
STAFF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school required with admittance to the bar required within the first six months of employment. Upon admittance to the bar, at all times during employment with the Court, must be an attorney properly admitted to the practice of law, be in active and in good standing. Demonstrated progressive experience in education, law, court administration, public administration, legal research, and/or a related field. Knowledge of adult learning principles, judicial education, and/or instructional design is required.
COMPETENCIES
Course development: Ability to design, deliver, and evaluate courses, including needs assessments, learning objectives, outlines, and collaborating with faculty on content and teaching methods.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with others, including colleagues, departments, and external partners, to achieve common goals and enhance organizational performance.
Program Management Acumen (Advanced): Ability to serve as a subject matter advisor within the office function. Designs, implements, and oversees program frameworks, methodologies, and governance structures. Provides guidance on complex, high impact initiatives aligned with organizational strategy. Advises senior leadership on program risks, priorities, tradeoffs, and long term outcomes.
Legal Knowledge (Foundational): Demonstrates knowledge of legal principles, procedures, and practices; applies critical thinking and sound judgment to interpret laws, analyze legal issues, and ensure compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.
Legal Research: Proficiency in analyzing statutes, case law, and regulations.
Communication: Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot, think critically, and solve issues independently.
Relationship Building: Establish and maintain collaborative, effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
Customer Service: Works with customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations.
Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess complex issues logically.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers and phones. This is a largely stationary role; however, the employee may also be required to move about the office and building and other locations while traveling. Performing job duties may require bending, standing, reaching, and assembling and occasionally lifting materials up to 20 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to communicate and exchange information.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Requires ability to work extended hours as needed and to travel on Court business is required, including overnight stays. Driver's license is required.
COURT EXPECTATIONS OF EMPLOYEE
Employees may be regularly exposed to sensitive information, and the employee is expected to keep any such information strictly confidential.
