Job Summary
The School of Education at The University of Southern Mississippi(USM) invites applicants for a one-year, full-time, non-tenure track Visiting AssistantProfessor position beginning in August 2025 with requirements to be physicallypresent on the Hattiesburg and/or Gulf Coast campuses. The Elementary Educationfaculty currently provide training to initial and advanced teaching licensurecandidates in Elementary Education. We are especially interested in candidateswhose experience includes bridging research and practice in P-12 elementaryeducation, literacy and/or mathematics education, special education, culturallyinclusive education, assessment, and clinical supervision.  We aim to recruit applicants with a backgroundin Curriculum and Instruction who will support the School of Education'sElementary Education programs including a Bachelor's degree in ElementaryEducation and a Master's of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction(Elementary Education). Program delivery includes face-to-face, online, andhybrid formats.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

  1. Teaching and mentoring students.
  2. Supervising elementary and special education clinical experiences.
  3. Demonstrating an understanding of cultural competence.
  4. Contributing to the mission of the School and profession through service activities.
  5. Collaborating with colleagues on program development and enhancement.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.
