Job Description
Vicksburg Forest Products is looking for a Mobile Shop Fleet Supervisor. The duties involve the repair and maintenance of industrial equipment such as: Log loaders, Wheel Loaders, Forklifts and other mobile equipment used in the manufacturing of lumber.
Responsibilities:
- Assigns work to mechanics and other shop personnel.
- Inspects repair work in progress and upon completion.
- Evaluates work performance of subordinates.
- Updates cost and time records for repair activities.
- Supervises preparation of repair orders, equipment records, requisitions, etc.
- Researches and makes recommendations regarding replacement or substitute parts.
- Develop and maintain a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance.
- Perform needed engine, transmission, and hydraulic system repairs on articulated dump trucks, front end loaders, excavators, tracked dozers, motor graders and miscellaneous small gas and diesel motors.
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, detect, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues across a wide variety of advanced, complex systems including integrated electric, air, and hydraulic systems.
- Educate employees on proper use of equipment to avoid future breakdowns.
- Ability to be on call to support operational needs.
- Work safely, following company policies and practices including wearing all required personal protective equipment.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining a wide variety of heavy and small equipment, including heavy duty vehicles, industrial-grade heavy equipment, automotive systems, hydraulic, and specialized equipment.
- Supervisor/management experience.
- Working knowledge of both gasoline and diesel engines.
- Proficiency in air brake systems and tractor-trailer repairs.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics tools and software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Must have valid Driver’s License.
Environmental Conditions:
- Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in a loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
