Summary

The IT System Administrator is responsible for IT infrastructure, application/software development, database administration, technology vendor management and technological projects. The IT System Administrator must have hands-on experience with the capability to assist the IT Manager the entire technology platform and will bring experience in the strategic use of IT for competitive advantage and cost reduction, managing vendor relationships, understanding of network, systems and telephone infrastructure, and solid business and IT analysis skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of network and server operating systems including familiarity with client-server technology in a Microsoft Windows environment, exchange E-mail server, SQL Database Server, storage systems, disaster recovery and business continuity solution.
  • Develops and coordinates technology policies and initiatives to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers by: identifying operating problems or inefficiencies with interfaces, promoting interdepartmental communication on technology issues, maintaining current software upgrades, recommending and implementing courses of action, and serving as a resource for project champions and project teams.
  • The IT System Administration performs duties for the Information Technology department including, but not limited to: provide ongoing production level support and coordinating of various stakeholders to ensure systems and services are operating at maximum efficiency; oversees and directs the activities and professional development of IT support staff members in support of organizational goals
  • Maintains progressive knowledge of technology development in the industry; identifies ways to apply new development trends to achieve CEMCO’s vision including the implementation of current technology where applicable.
  • Assist the IT Manger research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives. Monitors the training, design, and project implementation for all CEMCO’s staff and appropriate personnel to ensure maximum use of technology.
  • Assist the IT manager in the development and implementation of corporate-wide information technology in support of CEMCO’s strategic objectives and planning process; ensures timely and cost effective implementation of project delivery using sound project management methodologies
  • Directs the development, implementation, and monitoring of effective information system security and disaster recovery planning, including the protection of information assets—physical security and data security (e.g. hardware, software, and associated data) from unauthorized use and/or intentional disclosure, modification, or destruction.
  • Provide onsite and remote support on all Microsoft platforms and services to all sites within 5 CEMCO including day to day management of over one million sq. ft. of internal and external Wi-Fi at five geographical separate manufacturing locations.

Technical Competences

  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Technologies, including Windows operating system, Windows Server, Office 365, Azure and Active Directory.
  • TCP-IP LAN and WAN concepts with a working knowledge of Firewalls, Routers, Switches and VPN
  • Configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Windows based network and hardware.
  • Responsible for maintaining Windows based servers, including troubleshooting, software installation and general administration.
  • Supporting all aspects of the CEMCO IT infrastructure (Servers, Networks, Storage, Applications, etc.) and supporting IT messaging services including e-mail, supporting corporate in Private cloud hosted ERP systems and all other business systems.
  • Ensure the integrity of “Veeam and Azure” onsite / offsite backups, restores and maintain infrastructure requirements for disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • To monitor the security infrastructure, user activity and to respond immediately to threats and breaches, undertaking the appropriate corrective action to maintain security, dealing with inappropriate use.
  • Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills and experience.
  • Deputize for the IT Manager where applicable and carry out all other IT duties as assigned by the IT Manager.
  • Excellent command and highly proficient in spoken and written English.

  • TCP IP / IPv4 Routing / Cisco OSI / Cisco routers, and other routers protocols / switches / vlans
  • Multisite Firewall management (VPN / Wi Fi / Wi FI Mesh / ATP/ APT / IDS / IPS)
  • VMware ESXi Server 5.5 / 6.5 / Hyper-V 2008 / 2012 R2 including Legacy Migrations (P2V)
  • Server hardware builds and confutation / HDD RAID Configuration / iDrac
  • Terminal Servers / Terminal Servers Licencing / Citrix XenApp
  • SAN/NAS technologies such as Synology / Drobo including iSCSI / NIC Teaming
  • Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills and experience including technical design and documentation experience.
  • Understands specialty IT equipment, keeps knowledge up-to-date, is a technical resource for others, and follows technology practices and standards.

Desirable Skills

  • Project Management / Change Management experience.
  • Experience of administrating ERP systems such as (NAV, AX, Oracle, SAP)
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing, business intelligence systems and processes, and data visualization best practices.
  • ShoreTel IP Phones systems (multi-site)
  • Manufacturing IT experience in the construction industry
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection Suite
  • Veeam” 9.5 for Backup & Replication
  • Microsoft SQL user management
  • Barcoding and Zebra Printer technologies
  • Linux Servers

Education and / or Experience requirements

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S) from four-year college or university or equivalent technical certification is desirable. At least 5 to ten years of experience in relevant information technology technologies.

Physical Demands

Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may be required to lift equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

Work Environment

The noise level in the server room may be moderately loud due to the operation of HVAC equipment, server fans, printers, UPS etc.
