Salary: $95,000 - 200,000

Summary

Reporting to the Vice President for Business Development, the Account Executive will have overall responsibility for the retention and development of a specified book of agency accounts.  The Account Executive will work closely with an Account Manager and Customer Service Representative to service the agency accounts.  The primary focus of this position is building client relationships while delivering excellent client service including coverage and service consultation, account development, claims handling, account management and becoming integrally involved in the agency’s formal Stewardship Process. 


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a book of agency accounts and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of servicing these accounts, including renewal business.
  • Execute UIG directed program requirements, service plan implementation and coordination for assigned accounts.
  • Provide direction and oversight to a service team which consists of an Account Manager and Customer Service Representative.
  • Responsible for developing new business and producing revenue through cross-sales to existing clients.
  • Works collaboratively with service team and across departments to accomplish production, retention, and customer service goals.
  • Travel to meet with clients, as needed, and provide assistance in the production of new accounts, when required.
  • Meet regularly with the service team, Account Executives and VP of Business Development, and attend agency meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:

There are no direct supervision responsibilities, however, within the service team the Account Manager and Customer Service Representative are accountable to the Account Executive and the Account Executive provides direction and oversight to the team regarding client engagement. 


Financial Responsibility and Dimensions:

Ensures direct client costs are in relation to revenue and/or relationship.  Monitors receivables and potential write offs.


Education and Experience:

  • P & C Insurance client service experience approximating minimum 6 years with bachelor’s degree or 12-15 years with no post-secondary education.
  • Labor Organization experience can be substitute for insurance experience.
  • Ability to exercise discretion due to confidential nature of the work.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of constituencies, including clients, insurance companies and labor leaders.


Required Certifications/Licenses:

  • Illinois Property and Casualty License
  • Certified Insurance Counselor expected within 3 years of employment

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.

  • Ability to self-manage and delegate responsibilities to others, providing oversight and direction to a team.
  • Ability to maintain composure and a friendly professional demeanor in a fast-paced office setting serving a wide-range of customers and companies.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to use remote technology for communication, presentation and development. Competent with MS Office products.
