Job Description

Compensation: Pays up to $280/hr!

Position Type: Part-time

Schedule: This role is 20 hours per week: two 8 hr. days and one 4 hour day. We are flexible on days that you work!

Location: Philadelphia, PA

We are seeking a Psychiatrist to join our team at the NEW Behavioral Health Urgent Care location in the Philadelphia, PA 19129 area.

This is a mental health urgent care/walk-in center for adults in need of same-day care that is not an emergency in Philadelphia. We serve individuals experiencing emotional distress, mental health concerns, and/or substance use concerns. Individuals will participate in triage, resolution-focused services, and aftercare planning to prepare for long-term recovery and connection to ongoing care. We serve individuals regardless of income or insurance status. Our services do not replace the need for ongoing mental health care; rather, we aim to reduce avoidable visits to crisis centers and emergency rooms by helping people get the care they need when they need it.

The Psychiatrist should be a qualified mental health professional, possessing the clinical skills and experience necessary to assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and collaborate on treatment and rehabilitation. This individual will serve as the clinical leader, working in conjunction with other staff to ensure the highest quality of care for consumers.

Responsibilities:

Provide psychiatric evaluation, treatment, and care to individuals experiencing urgent behavioral health needs.
Supervise Certified Nurse Practitioners.
Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary BHUCC team to assess and manage urgent behavioral health needs.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality and compassionate services.

Qualifications:

Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
Valid state medical license and DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances
Experience in crisis intervention, emergency psychiatry, or urgent care settings is preferred
Knowledge of evidence-based psychiatric treatments and interventions
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare technology
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
Strong communication and empathy in working with patients and their families.
