Safety and Compliance Manager

We are seeking a Safety and Compliance Manager to join our company located in Monmouth Junction, NJ.

The Safety and Compliance Manager is responsible for maintaining the knowledge to perform in a proficient and effective manner consistent with the duties of this position.
Job Duties:
- Maintain and practice use of the knowledge of/to Inspect, Monitor and/or Enforce:
- Safety Training Program(s) in areas of:
- General Safety
- Food Safety
- Food Defense
- GMP Standards, Policies, & Procedures
- Warehouse Product in storage, inbound, and/or outbound
- OSHA regulations
- Hazmat storage & handling safety, compliance, and regulations
- Company Safety Policies & procedures as they relate to the Safety Department
- Driver & Mechanic DOT compliance
- Hazardous Materials Safety Program
- Maintain knowledge of and demonstrate the skillful use of:
- Industry related computer software and hardware
- Current changes and trends in the industry
- Governmental regulations including, but not limited to:
- FDA,, USDA, OSHA, C-TPAT, Federal, State, & Local Agencies, and Homeland Security
- Lift Truck Equipment Safety Training
- Perform Specific Work Duties:
- Accompany 3rd party audits; QA, Customers, Governmental
- Perform periodic internal audits at all facilities
- Assist, create, and distribute periodic reports as is required by the Safety Department
- Record keeping of all activities, applications, and reporting of findings
- Assist in Accidents investigations and corrective actions as they relate to the Safety Department
- Act as Liaison to Pest Control Company and maintain records of inspections/requirements
- Enhancing the company’s profitability by (but not limited to):
- Perform all duties in a timely manner, effectively as to reduce the overall downtime of the equipment
- Communicate to management any/all cost cutting ideas or suggestions
- Qualifications:
- Associate degree in HSE (Health Safety and Environment) or equivalent relevant work experience
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA rules/regulations
- OSHA 30 Certified
- Experience with Hazmat rules/regulations
- Completed Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS) Training
- Ability to Travel
- Travel to in-state (NJ) and out-of-state facilities may require air travel and/or overnight travel
- Experience in Warehouse environment
- Computer Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- High standard of ethical conduct with a strong safety culture, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to lift and/or move office and warehouse supplies
- Be able to walk around warehouses to inspect and/or gather information
- Frequent walking on near daily basis
- Be able to stand and/or sit for 8 hours
- No fear of heights; may be required to get on lift for audit purposes
