Job Description

Operations Manager - Pharmacy

Position Summary:
Direct the fulfillment team and workflow in daily operations of the pharmacy production area, assisting with systems, regulatory requirements, and performance improvement. Collaborate with Senior Operations Manager to establish departmental goals and objectives, while overseeing project implementation and service operations.

Key Relationships:
Reports to Senior Operations Manager. Works closely with Production Supervisors, Fulfillment Technicians I and II, and various departments including customer service, order entry, pharmacists, and logistics.

Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to build effective teams and implement core pharmacy processes.
- Review KPIs for continuous improvement, lead Lean initiatives, and control preparation, distribution, and data processing activities.
- Ensure operational processes meet standards and objectives, recommending and implementing plans for streamlining operations.
- Engage in personnel activities including interviewing, staffing, and performance appraisals.
- Participate in performance improvement, regulatory compliance efforts, and budget preparation.
- Coordinate performance evaluations, leadership development plans, and staffing processes.
- Investigate fulfillment errors, facilitate resolutions, and ensure compliance in production areas.
- Collaborate with compliance team on all compliance topics and implement new technology/process rollouts.
- Safeguard production area and contents through monitoring security protocols.
- Motivate teamwork, address concerns, and communicate essential information through Gemba and MBWA.
- Conduct team member safety measures and encourage participation in pharmacy activities and events.

Experience, Skills, and Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or 5 years’ work-related experience.
- Minimum 2 years of employee supervision and performance management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience preferred in long-term care and pharmacy.
- Demonstrated success in pharmacy practice, project management, and performance improvement.
- Ability to obtain pharmacy technician licensure or certification if required.
- Flexible to work various hours including overnight, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma processes, pharmacy automation, and computers.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel to other sites as needed.
