Job Description

Wiley University is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Department Chair of Accounting and Financial Literacy Center Project Coordinator at Wiley University. This dual role encompasses both academic and administrative responsibilities, providing leadership in the development and implementation of innovative programs, research initiatives, and community engagement efforts in the fields of accounting and financial literacy.

Departmental Leadership:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Department of Accounting, overseeing undergraduate programs, faculty development, and student success initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation within the department, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of academic and administrative activities.
  • Conducts regular advising, internship placements, and program assessments.

Curriculum Development:

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and revise curriculum offerings that reflect current trends, best practices, and emerging issues in accounting and financial literacy.
  • Ensure alignment of curriculum with accreditation standards, professional certification requirements, and industry expectations.

Research and Scholarship:

  • Support faculty research and scholarly activities in accounting and related fields, promoting a culture of inquiry, discovery, and knowledge dissemination.
  • Facilitate opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, external funding, and publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Student Engagement and Success:

  • Enhance student recruitment, retention, and success through innovative academic advising, experiential learning opportunities, and career development initiatives.
  • Provide leadership in promoting financial literacy education and outreach efforts to empower students with essential financial management skills.

Community Engagement and Partnerships:

  • Cultivate partnerships with business, industry, government, and nonprofit organizations to enrich educational experiences, support applied research projects, and facilitate internship and job placement opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to develop and deliver financial literacy programs, workshops, and resources for the broader community.

Administrative Oversight:

  • Manage departmental budget, resources, and facilities effectively and responsibly, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and goals.
  • Supervise departmental staff, including faculty, advisors, and administrative personnel, fostering professional growth, teamwork, and accountability.

Qualifications:

A doctorate in the teaching discipline or evidence of completion of all course work at the doctoral level; i.e., ABD with completion of dissertation within six months is required. Must have a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the relevant teaching discipline. Three to five years of teaching experience and research in related field. Familiarity or experience with various teaching strategies is highly desirable. Experience with online instruction is also desirable. Must demonstrate active involvement in scholarly activities in addition to teaching; must be committed to teaching undergraduate students in an ethnically diverse environment and experienced in cutting-edge uses of information technology to advance learning; and assume a strong leadership role in developing courses and curricula. A background in curriculum development is desirable.
