Salary: Based on experience

Reedsburg Area Medical Center is recruiting a part-time Department Secretary to join our team at Worksite Wellness Center!

Schedule: Fridays

Hours: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Position Summary:

The Clinic Registration/Secretary arranges for the efficient and orderly registration of patients.  The Registration/Secretary is also responsible for performing receptionist and clerical duties for the Worksite Wellness Center.


Job Relationships
:

Reports to Director of Business Health.


Primary Customer Served:

No direct patient care.

Education and Training Required
:

High school graduate or equivalent.


Experience
:

Experience working in a hospital or other medical environment would be beneficial, but not necessary.


Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
:

Good organizational skills.

Good time management skills, can prioritize.

Resourceful – aware of resources available for use.

Ability to work independently.

Good communication skills.

Ability to deal with multiple priorities in a calm manner.

Basic computer knowledge, excellent customer service skills, reception and/or switchboard experience.

Ability to use the following equipment:  fax, photocopier, personal computer, POS equipment.


Physical Requirements
:

Physical Demands:

Frequently sit and walk.

Occasional standing.

Occasionally lift up to 10 pounds while handling patients charts, x-rays, copier paper, etc.

Occasionally push/pull with up to 50 pounds of force for transporting charts and x-rays and maneuvering equipment.

Occasionally carry up to 10 pounds while handling charts, etc.

Occasionally bend to floor, squat, crouch, and reach overhead to retrieve papers, folders, etc. from cupboards and drawers.

Frequently reach for patient information and give appointment cards at reception window, as well as handle objects such as paper, phones, clips, etc.

 

Sight:

Constantly use near sighted visual acuity and frequently use accommodation for reading, writing, computer work and telephoning.

 

Cognition/Communication:

Constantly and effectively communicate with physicians, patients, family members, other staff, and outside vendors/customers using hearing/listening skills and comprehensive speech.

Frequently use reading and telephone skills.

Occasionally communicate effectively using complex writing.

 

Environmental Conditions:

Constant indoor, patient environment with occasional computer screen glare.

 

Potential Hazards:

OSHA Blood Borne/TB Classification Class II - Occupational exposure to blood and Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIMs) is not reasonably expected to occur in routine performance of duties.

Occasional exposure to disease requiring isolation in Registration.

 

Psychological, Situational, Functional Factors:

Constant interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others including patients, family members, and coworkers.

Frequently show flexibility in dealing with frequently changing tasks, schedule and requirements on your time.

Frequently use problem solving and analyzing skills while performing the job with speed, consistency, and accuracy such as scheduling clients and locating patient information.

Speed, consistency and accuracy of work duties imperative.

Occasionally commit to prolonged job or task with sustained concentration.

Occasionally plan, direct and monitor activities in the clinic to promote a more efficient work place and maintain customer satisfaction.

Maintain flexibility in work schedule.
