Accounts Payable Accountant

GEMCO Constructors, founded in July of 2014, is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Position Summary

Under supervision from the Director of Accounting, the Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for entering all invoices, routing them for approval, reconciling and paying the Home Depot and Lowes credit accounts and reconciling vendor statements at month end.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Verify, classify, and record vendor invoices into Computer Ease or designated accounting software.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly statements.
• Understand expense accounts and cost centers to ensure proper allocation of expenses.
• Ensure compliance with accounts payable processes, including requirements such as W-9 forms and sales tax documentation.
• Collaborate effectively to resolve any invoice-related issues or queries.
• Assist in month-end closing activities and provide support as needed for financial reporting.

Requirements

• Proven working experience as an Accounts Payable Clerk or similar role, demonstrating a strong grasp of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
• Proficiency in calculating, posting, and managing accounting figures and financial records with a keen eye for detail.
• Must have Excel knowledge (as well as Word/Outlook)
• Job costing experience a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands

• Primarily in an office environment.
• May be required to travel occasionally as needed.
• Periodic weekend or evening work is possible.
