Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineers – Robotics / Motion Systems

Industry: Medical Devices (Large Capital Equipment) Robotics Motion Systems

Function: Image-Guided Medical Technology

Location: Greater Boston, MA (Littleton, MA. area)

• You will apply your education, engineering experience, and technical expertise toward developing world-class medical products for image-guided surgery.
• You will participate in the design, development, and testing with an emphasis on mechanical product development.

Key Skills and Experience:

• You Must Have experience in Physically Designing Motion Contol Systems / Robotic Systems and Large Medical Capital Equipment.
• Selecting motors, picking bearings, servo drives, servo motors, DC Servo Motors
• Must have FEA experience
• Experience in robotic design including belt drives, ball screws, stepper motors and DC servo motors.
• Experience with mechanical linkage design and structural design
• Expert knowledge of Mechanical technical principles, theories, and concepts
• Responsible for mechanical designs in an R&D product development environment to develop our robotic guided imaging products.
• Responsible for mechanical designs that meet both internal and external customer requirements and are optimized for production, reliability, and cost.
• Responsible for writing requirements, design implementation, writing test plans, executing tests and writing verification reports.
• Design skills include an understanding of drafting standards, design progression, GD&T in compliance with ASTM Y14.5, DFSS/DFMA, tolerance analysis, and DFMEA methodologies
• Expert knowledge of Solidworks/EPDM and modeling practices.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• Must have a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. (or closely related degree)
• Must have 5 to 10 years of experience in the mechanical design and development of motion control systems, robotic systems, and large medical capital equipment.
• Experience in robotic design including belt drives, ball screws, stepper motors, and DC servo motors.
• Experience with mechanical linkage design and structural design.
• Expert knowledge of Mechanical technical principles, theories, and concepts.
• FEA experience.
• Robotics, DC servo motors, gears, Capital equipment, PCB enclosures, bearings, pick and place, CFD, dynamics, stress, thermal, DFMEA, PID, mechatronics.

NICE TO HAVE (Highly Desired)

Solid working knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical product development, including knowledge of federal and international regulations, such as FDA QSR, IEC 60601, ISO: 13485, 14971, 62304, and 13485, Medical Device Directive or other regulating agencies is required.

Experience with medical imaging devices (Diagnostic X-ray, CT, PET, MRI).

Experience with Solidworks simulation for static, dynamic, and thermal analysis.
