Job Description

The IE&A Lead/Technician position is responsible for carrying out planned or unplanned maintenance and repair activities for the Production Facility, Drill-Site, Seawater Treatment Plant, Grind & Inject, and Tie-in Pad on a wide range of instrumentation and control including packages like turbines, compressors, generators, motors, valves, and other associated IE&A equipment.

This position is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) that works closely with and assists the Operations & Maintenance Manager in all aspects of the Pikka Facilities and Drill Site operations to ensure overall safe, effective, and efficient operations.

As part of our dynamic team during the project phase, this role will be part of the Integrated Commissioning and Start-up Team, leading IE&A commissioning activities, system testing, and facilitating the transition from commissioning to full-scale operations. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a state-of-the-art facility and shape its operational success.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Commissioning Phase:

  • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to understand project specifications, design, and equipment.
  • Oversee and direct IE&A technicians in plan inspection, commissioning support and troubleshooting control of instrumentation and fire & gas equipment for Pikka facilities and performance manages as appropriate.
  • Manage and provide daily / weekly reports to the Commissioning Manager and raise any concerns that may affect handover in line with the project sub - system delivery schedule.
  • Organize resources to conduct walks downs as required representing the I&C STO commissioning discipline.
  • Lead I&C commissioning department when interfacing with Construction and monitor contractors' I&C completion and pre-commissioning activities.
  • Interface with construction and monitor contractors' I&C completion and pre-commissioning activities in different Fabrication yards and in the field (North Slope)
  • Analyse work problems and make corrections that will facilitate the completion of system assignments.
  • Oversee and lead vendor representatives and site operations in commissioning and start up activities.
  • Sign-off and approved logbooks of recorded commissioning and operational events.
  • Interface with construction and monitor contractors' I&C completion and pre-commissioning activities in different Fabrication yards and in the field (North Slope)
  • Assist in developing and executing commissioning plans, including system walk-downs, equipment testing, and documentation.
  • Identify and resolve issues that arise during commissioning, coordinating with relevant teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various equipment and processes.

Transition to Operations:

  • Facilitate the smooth transition from commissioning to operations, ensuring a seamless handover of systems, processes, and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with the operations team to transfer knowledge and insights gained during commissioning.
  • Assist in the training of operations staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle day-to-day activities.
  • Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies, reliability plans, and emergency response protocols.
  • Provide valuable input for optimizing equipment performance, energy efficiency, and operational safety.

Operations:

  • Monitor and operate equipment within established operational parameters, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as driven by the work management system and provide quality detail and feedback to work completed and discovered and work with engineering to evaluate maintenance program performance and pursue predictive maintenance analytics.
  • SAP / Prometheus Work Order schedule compliance through our Integrated Activity Planning System (IAPS)
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and participate in RCFA investigations to determine root cause.
  • Provide Santos oversite of contractor work, ensuring compliance with Santos and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing operational reliability and performance.
  • Monitor, maintain, and repair systems for a gas & oil treating and water injection facilities including large electric-driven compressors, heater treaters and stabilizers, TEG dehydration units, water injection pumps, separation, LACT skids, and product tankage.
  • Complete safe outs/in of equipment for maintenance operations and issuing work permits.
  • Sign-off punch closures and receiving mechanical completed subsystem from construction/EPCs
  • Seek opportunities to reduce area costs and optimize performance.
  • Participate in facility/drill site modifications and special projects.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and safety issues.
  • Perform minor maintenance and assist maintenance technicians.
  • Make recommendations for improving SOPs.
  • Maintains composure in challenging situations.
  • Capable of performing manlift operations.

Experience/Requirements

  • Experienced professional who is conversant with Oil and Gas Construction and Commissioning processes.
  • Minimum of 10 years in the oil and gas industry and capital projects. Preferred in Hook-up & Commissioning projects.
  • Instrument & Control theory, work methods, tools and testing equipment used in the commissioning of Oil/Gas Facilities
  • Experience in both design and commissioning and managerial skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and achieve project goals and milestones.
  • Ability to produce of detailed technical procedures, documents and work instruction and reports.
  • Good understanding of Completions Management System methods and workflow, combined with an ability to fit design to deliverable.
  • Conversant with relevant international standards and Client Codes or Practice and their application to the Completions process.
