Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Location: Outside of Albany, NY
Salary Range: $120,000 – $143,000
Type: Full-Time | Hybrid or Onsite (depending on project needs)


Role Overview

Our growing engineering client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support complex automation and control system projects. This role partners closely with project teams and customers to deliver high-quality, compliant control system designs for industrial applications.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, the ability to work independently on projects, and confidence leading technical discussions with both customers and vendors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret customer technical specifications and translate requirements into control system                 designs
  • Lead technical discussions with customers and suppliers, providing clear and accurate engineering guidance
  • Direct and review electrical and control panel designs in coordination with internal engineering teams
  • Apply applicable electrical and instrumentation standards, including NEC, IEC, ATEX, UL, and CSA
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal procedures and            international standards
  • Support project execution by resolving engineering issues and ensuring deliverables meet quality                         expectations

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering
  • Proven ability to manage and execute projects independently
  • Experience interfacing directly with customers and external vendors
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems, instrumentation, and electrical design standards
