Job description

The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer is responsible for managing client projects and for assuring high quality and timely completion of engineering designs and reports. The Senior I&C Engineer should be comfortable interfacing with the clients, visiting clients’ facilities and performing physical work such as walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing stairs/ladders. Key responsibilities include technical calculations and preparation of I&C deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Collection and presentation of key data/information
  • Instrument technical specifications and ISA data sheets
  • Instrument installation details
  • Instrument location plans
  • Control wiring and loop diagrams
  • P&IDs in regard to instrument and control philosophy
  • I/O requirements for DCS and PLC systems
  • Review of vendor drawing submittals
  • Technical calculations (e.g. control valve sizing)
  • Technical evaluation of bids
  • Assistance in field work
  • Support of construction and startup/commissioning activities
Qualifications
  • 5+Years of Engineering Experience
  • Experience in refinery or a continuous process chemical plant is a plus
  • P&ID understanding
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Familiarity with typical I&C drawings (Loops, Cabinet Layout/Wiring etc.)
  • Working knowledge of process field instrumentation
  • Project lead experience developing engineering schedules, budgets and forecasts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and to present a positive image to clients
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3-D CAD a plus
  • Engineering design tools and calculations
  • Knowledge of Industry Standards (ISA, PSM, etc.)
Education/Certification Requirements
  • BS Degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
  • Advanced degree, and/or P.E. certification a plus
  • Active participation in professional organizations a plus
