Full-time, Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm

Hourly range $32 - $36/hour, commensurate with experience

Peening Technologies is looking for a skilled Instrumentation & Controls Technician to join our team in East Hartford, CT. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you'll work on cutting-edge CNC shot peening and surface enhancement systems used in some of the most demanding applications in manufacturing. You'll split your time between supporting new OEM machine builds and keeping our in-house production equipment running at peak performance, working side-by-side with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations.

Instrumentation & Controls Technician Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (AAS) in Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, Controls, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial instrumentation, controls, or electrical maintenance (4+ years accepted in place of a degree)
  • Solid troubleshooting skills across instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, and automated systems
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, servo systems, robotics, industrial sensors, and Ethernet-based controls
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings
  • Quick learner; comfortable adopting new equipment and control technologies
  • Experience with new equipment installations, commissioning, or machine upgrades is a plus

Instrumentation & Controls Technician Job Responsibilities

  • Support new machine builds: installation, wiring, instrumentation setup, and system commissioning
  • Develop, install, and test ladder-logic programs and OITs for new equipment with Manufacturing Engineering
  • Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), including safety interlock verification
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, instrumentation, AC/DC electrical systems, sensors, and actuators on production equipment
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance; respond to downtime events with root cause analysis
  • Support system upgrades, retrofits, and engineering change orders on existing machines
  • Maintain and update electrical schematics, control drawings, and documentation
  • Manage plant inventory of controls, instrumentation, and spare parts
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, vendors, and customers
  • Participate in hazard assessments, risk analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Occasional travel (up to one week at a time) to sister facilities or customer sites for installs and startups
