Job Overview

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the purpose of the Senior Mechanical Engineer is to promote Corporate Excellence and Customer Satisfaction throughout our Engineering workflow within the assigned technical responsibility.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer champions Mechanical Engineering best practices along with overseeing assigned projects and specialized areas of responsibility. Additionally, the Senior Mechanical Engineer applies extensive industry experience and superior technical skills to serve as an internal consultant of product design and function, technical service support, technical sales support, and manufacturing excellence. The Senior Mechanical Engineer also fills the key role of guiding the corporation in consistent, efficient, and effective operations in every assigned responsibility within the department and supported areas.

Job Description

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
•Represents adopted Corporate Values in all activities.
•Independently lead all aspects of assigned engineering projects directing designated personnel.
•Champion specific areas of responsibility that may vary in duration and difficulty. Examples include oversight or administration of Engineering Technology, or secondary leadership roles within the department.
•Develop, oversee, and manage Engineering strategies and processes to create accurate, error free documentation such as drawings, bills of material and machine specifications.
•Serve as an internal design consultant for product and process improvements to promote Corporate Excellence and Customer Satisfaction.
•Play key roles on product and process improvement teams to help ensure appropriate integration of Product Development and Engineering while communicating team solutions to internal customers.
•Oversee the Plant Operations adoption and implementation of new product and feature enhancements at the point of release from Product Development and/or product improvement initiatives. Includes audit and facilitation of design for manufacturing, B.O.M. construction, and conformance to best practices, and reports of progress and completion.
•Able to achieve goals and milestones individually as well as through collaborative efforts with other engineers and diverse professional teams.
•Serve as Company's support engineer to ensure effective utilization of all technologies as required.
•Seek mentoring opportunities with knowledge share sessions and direct consultation.
•Knowledgeable of industry trends and developments within assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
•Must be a self-starter who can meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks and priorities
•Must be able to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
•10-15 years' experience in design and production Engineering with consideration of advanced degree.
•Mechanical Engineering degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
•Experience with ERP and CAD/CAM software
•Knowledgeable of modern engineering practices and manufacturing techniques
•Proficient with personal computer functions and Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel)
•Must be able to communicate fluently with personnel on a profession and vocational level

Physical Requirements

This position does require frequent visits to the manufacturing and assembly areas. There are no specific physical requirements, but lifting up to 40 pounds might be required on a very infrequent basis as part of assisting other CMC personnel. The majority of the incumbent's time is in an office environment, with most of this time sitting at a computer (CAD) station. Repetitive hand and arm motion, eye strain and eye fatigue common to prolonged computer workstation use would be expected.
