Job Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a strategic partner to the hospital's executive team, providing financial leadership and direction to ensure the organization's financial health and sustainability. The CFO oversees all financial functions, including budgeting, financial reporting, revenue cycle management, financial analysis, and strategic financial planning.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the hospital's mission and goals.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning efforts.
- Provide financial analysis and guidance to support decision-making by the executive team and the Board of Directors.
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Present financial information to senior management, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders as needed.
3. Revenue Cycle Management:
- Direct the revenue cycle process, including billing, collections, and reimbursement.
- Monitor revenue cycle performance metrics and implement strategies to optimize revenue capture and minimize denials.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to billing and reimbursement.
4. Financial Operations:
- Establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions, investment advisors, and other external stakeholders.
- Oversee treasury functions, including cash management, investments, and debt financing.
5. Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
- Coordinate financial audits and regulatory inspections.
6. Team Leadership and Development:
- Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing finance team.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to finance staff.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Requirements:Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or MBA (Master of Business Administration) strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience in financial management, preferably in healthcare or a related industry.
- Proven leadership ability with the capacity to inspire and motivate teams.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of healthcare finance regulations, reimbursement methodologies, and industry trends.
Experience
- 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management.
- Previous experience in a CFO or senior financial leadership role preferred.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting highly desirable.
