The Role

In this role, you will drive successful outcomes across broad, multi-functional projects and initiatives to achieve Metropolis's goals and vision. You will research, shape, and inform decision-making across the business. You will work in a variety of domains spanning multiple projects to deliver results.

This position reports to the office of the CTO. Team priorities are set by the Chief of Staff to the CTO and CXPO.

Example projects include:

  • Data Systems Overhaul: Rethinking the way, we manage location data and ensuring the right information flows to the right systems at the right times
  • Vendor Management Optimization: Working across our vast vendor network to identify opportunities to optimize onboarding, contracting, and renewal processes.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve the way we forecast and manage hardware inventory.
  • System Performance Analysis: Analyze system performance in select areas to direct product and engineering teams towards opportunity areas.
  • Engineering Productivity Optimization: Work with our Engineering leaders to design and implement improvements to our onboarding, training, and Developmnent processes.

As a Technical Project Manager – Special Projects, you will have input into which initiatives you work on and own, based on your skillset, interests, and growth goals. You will also be able to recommend new initiatives based on your observations as you get up-to-speed on all things Metropolis.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Management: You will be responsible for planning projects, establishing requirements, milestones and exit criteria, and delivery timelines. Once a project is kicked off, you will be responsible for executing the developed plan with high-quality and ensuring completion on time and on budget.
  • Relationship Building: As part of your role, you will establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, at all levels of leadership, to support successful project delivery. This will require regular flexing of "leadership and influence without authority" skills.
  • Status Reporting and Communication: You will regularly report on project status to direct management and senior leadership. This will require a strong ability to tailor your communications to the audience.
  • Opportunity Identification: Early projects in your tenure will be selected for you based on business priorities and your skillset, but over time you will be expected to identify new opportunity areas and propose projects worth prioritizing.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: You will be expected to rapidly develop subject matter expertise on Metropolis products and technologies and the industry.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • History of delivering complex, cross-functional projects
  • Deeply curious and self-motivated learner eager to identify system challenges and design and implement solutions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, loosely defined environment
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and deadline-management skills
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Ability to exhibit leadership and influence without authority
  • Strong sense of personal accountability and independent decision making
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven success working with all levels of management. Capable of simplifying complex problems for a diverse audience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical field
  • 3+ years of professional work experience in technology product or project management, management consulting, or investment banking

The anticipated base salary for this position is $140,000.00 to 175,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base pay is one component of Metropolis's total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
