Part Time Lab Technician

Job Description

Required to have experience in assisting technical personnel in general, routine laboratory operations and routine laboratory tasks in support of scientific research. This position must perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group in support of Crop Protection Research and Development. The successful candidate will conduct routine research laboratory activities with guidance form Senior Laboratory Associates and Principal Investigators. Responsibilities include utilizing a variety of wet chemistry techniques, effectively documenting experimental findings in appropriate software programs, and communicating results produced. The candidate must be familiar with common laboratory skills such as labelling, pipetting, waste handling, determining mass, and weighing test products or experimental chemicals.

Requirements:

·         High School and some college background

·         Experience in research laboratory

·         Experience with preparing buffers, basic wet chemistry calculations and serial dilutions

·         Experience in translating oral and written directions into empirical reality

·         Experience in observation and paying close attention to detail

·         Familiarity with safety and waste handling procedures

·         Strong interpersonal skills. Willing to work in a group of diverse people while supporting team members to meet team objectives

·         As appropriate, possess the ability to work independently.

·         Experience with computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel
