D & G Machine Products, Inc., a Certified ISO 9001 & AS9100D Company with a Main Plant located in Westbrook and a Fabrication Plant located in Gorham, Maine, has been offering full-service Precision Machining, Fabrication, Painted and Assembled Machine Products for more than 50 Years.


D&G Machine supply’s several Nationwide Industries that include: Aerospace, Computer Chip Production, Defense Contracts, Medical, Power Generation, and Maine’s Paper Industry.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Accountant is responsible for reconciling general ledger accounts, maintaining financial records, and preparing financial reports. The Accountant’s other duties include preparing and analyzing budgets, customer invoicing, daily cash receipts, and assisting with month-end and year-end close.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Reconciles General Ledger Balance Sheet Accounts monthly and prepares adjusting journal entries when necessary.
  • Assists in daily customer invoicing, verifies payment of invoices, and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Supports month-end and year-end close process.
  • Assists in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports on job cost variances to operations and plant management; provides explanations as to cause and effect of variances, points out BOM or routing issues, ongoing trends, etc.
  • Works with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy of cost components.
  • Aids in the development, documentation, and implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines to maintain and strength internal controls.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and implements improvements to processes.
  • Provides accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information.
  • Prepares financial documents for and assists with internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Provides support with annual budget and year-end financial review.
  • Communicates with COO/CFO on work status and customer issues that arise.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable GAAP standards, rules, regulations, and systems of internal controls.
  • Handles sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • Three to five years of accounting/finance experience required.
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge in Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with month-end and year-end close.
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
  • Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in an office/manufacturing environment at the Main Plant located in Westbrook, Maine. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
