Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Music Teacher/Therapist for Special Education Students

SUPERVISOR: Kathleen Suss

STATUS: Part-time; 10 hours per week March - June, 2024

GENERAL PURPOSE

Serve as a Music Teacher for Concordia Conservatory’s outreach program in six (6)

Stamford Public Elementary Schools, serving students in contained classrooms with a

range of neurological and physical disabilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Education or Music Therapy.

● Experience working with special needs children, preferably in a school setting.

● Strong interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills.

● Ability to represent the Conservatory in a professional manner.

● Work well with multiple constituencies.

● Ability to work with confidential information and exercise discretion.

● Demonstrate ability to effectively solve problems; initiate and implement projects

independently.

● Goal and detail oriented.

● Effective at managing multiple priorities.

● Ability to work independently.

● The availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.

● Maintain a positive attitude that will promote a healthy cultural climate that

reflects the mission of Concordia Conservatory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Provide 30 minute in classroom music lessons for 6 Stamford Elementary Public

Schools (K-5). Working with students with autism spectrum disorder, neurological

dysfunction and developmental and/or cognitive disabilities

● Ability to work well with verbal and non-verbal clients with a range of disabilities

● Driver’s License and personal vehicle required

● Report to Executive Director for scheduled meetings

in all aspects of day-to-day duties and responsibilities assigned to this position

programs, policies and goals of the Conservatory

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Reports to the Concordia Conservatory Executive Director Kathleen Suss and Director

Melinda Magnani

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUBLIC CONTACT

Regular contact with students, faculty, staff and third parties requiring courtesy,

discretion, professional appearance and sound judgment.

SALARY

Commensurate with experience.
