Job Description
Universal Banker/Lending Assistant
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Be a leader of Bank & Trust culture when in any Bank & Trust location and when representing the bank in any capacity.
- Develop/maintain new and existing account banking relationships. (Open all new accounts; process changes to existing accounts; cross sell additional products to enhance customer relationships; negotiate rates when applicable; make appropriate referrals to banking, investing, and insurance departments; and take initiative to solve any other customer inquiry).
- Process customer transactions accurately (deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cash checks, cashier’s checks, savings bonds, cash advances, adhere to bank policies/regulations, balance teller box, etc.)
- Balance cash box daily; must be able to locate discrepancies and maintain proper cash levels in drawers, must be able to recognize counterfeit money.
- Perform secretarial services for Market President and Loan officers.
- Assist with various loan services such as obtaining credit reports, closing and disbursement of new and renewal loans, preparing forms, and loan servicing duties.
- Aid in business development by generating new deposits and loans from existing and potential customers by participating in Customer Call Program, customer service programs, and community programs and projects.
- Provide excellent customer service (based on E2 non-negotiable practices)
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations in addition to adherence with all bank policies and procedures including but not limited to BSA-AML
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform ATM duties (balance, settle, on call)
- Assist in other areas of the bank such as new accounts.
- Serve on bank committees as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
- Two years’ experience in professional administrative or secretarial position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year customer service and/or cash-handling experience.
- Basic mathematical skills
- Basic knowledge of lending policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of computers including MS Office
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Credit in good standing
- Ability to effectively analyze customer(s) needs to assist and/or direct them to the appropriate department(s).
PREFERRED SKILLS, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
- An Associate’s Degree or equivalent
- Be familiar with banking compliance regulations.
- Self-starter, highly organized, detail-oriented & ability to prioritize.
- Ability to function efficiently and effectively under deadlines.
- Knowledge of consumer and real estate lending.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish

WORK CONDITIONS
- Professional office environment.
- Standing daily for entire work shift.
- Heavy lifting/carrying daily (25 - 30 lbs)
- Must have ability to use a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, copier, fax machines, and telephone.
- Work environment is indoors with a majority of time spent sitting at a desk.
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and/or via telephone.
- Ability to see to read, count money, and analyze data.
- Able to work 8am to 5:30pm Monday-Friday AND 8:00-12:00 some Saturdays
