Chief Nursing Officer

Purpose: The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the oversight of Acute Care, Ambulance Services, Emergency Services, Infection Control, Nurse Education, Long Term Care, and Surgery/Outpatient Services. This position is an integral part of the SMH Administrative Team and provides input into administrative decisions for the benefit of the hospital and the various departments. Serves as the Nursing liaison to the SMH Board of Directors and Medical Staff.

• Practices and promotes positive peer and quest relations
• Practices and promotes patient/family advocacy and assists in the maintenance of ethical practice
• Serves as a facilitator and resource for quality improvement
• Provides leadership and promotes teamwork between the departments of SMDH
• Demonstrates a high level of productivity and dependability
• Practices and promotes professional development of managers, staff, peers and self
• Promotes and adheres to all hospital policies
• Serves as nursing liaison to the SMH Board of Directors and Medical Staff
• Participates in hospital committees as assigned
• Investigates and takes appropriate action on any nursing department complaints
• Oversees personnel situations and take appropriate action
• Promotes open communication at SMDH
• Performs related duties as required

Academic, Certifications, & Trade Qualifications

• Current Missouri RN licensure is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Nursing degree required.

Work Experience, Skills, and Strengths

• Three years clinical experience plus three years of progressive nursing management experience required.
