About the Role:
Personnel Services Unlimited is seeking a Plant Breeder for a Direct-Hire position! Our client is a global manufacturer and distributor in Dallas, NC.
- Salary: $90K plus, Exempt
- Location: This position is NOT remote or hybrid.
- Travel: 15% - 40 %
Responsibilities Include:
The Plant Breeder manages the non-GMO plant/seed breeding program to optimize yield, quality, and tolerance traits.
- Will oversee breeding activities, field tests, and plant scale-up for commercial use.
Essential Functions:
- Understand raw material and key growth characteristics.
- Collaborate with universities on varietal development.
- Plan and execute field trials, analyze data, and manage agronomic challenges.
- Provide trial data for high-quality raw material procurement.
- Liaise with Global Agronomy Team for varietal commercializiation.
- Knowledge of APHIS import requirements.
- Regular field plot monitoring and farmer support for plant scale-up.
- Manage internal seed/plant catalog and IP rights.
- Collaborate with food scientists and agricultural engineers for crop improvement.
Job Skills and Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Agronomy or Plant Breeding.
- 3-5 years experience in vegetable plant breeding, preferably sweet potatoes.
- Strong knowledge of plant genetics and growth.
- Hands-on farm experience.
- Proficiency in planting, fertilizing, and harvesting.
- Excellent communication and data analysis skills.
- Proficient in Spanish preferred.
