Job Description

ROLE:

COMPANY is a renewable energy startup based in Livermore, CA. The company is currently seeking a highly experienced & motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development of prototypes of cutting-edge renewable energy technology. You will be responsible for creating, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems, components, and products. This role involves applying engineering principles and CAD software tools to design and prototype mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems.

Responsibilities:

· Work in a diverse integrated product development team

· Create mechanical concepts that balance manufacturability, thermal, environmental, and other requirements.

· Prepare detailed mechanical CAD designs, work with mechanical fabricators, and prototype designs in the machine shop when appropriate, design testing and prototype fabrication

• Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs

· Document designs including theory of operation and engineering notes

· Analyze prototypes and summarize test results

· Collaborate with team members to perform cross-functional tasks such as testing, layout, etc.

· Troubleshoot problems with new and existing products and implement fixes

· Provide recommendations for continuous improvements in project designs, plans, processes and product development

· Collaborate with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field..

• 5+ years of relevant experience in the design, construction, implementation, of power electronics equipment

· System level understanding of electro-mechanical design

· Experience with design for serviceability and manufacturability

· Experience with 3D CAD and thermal modeling tools

· Experience with UL-1741 and other UL standards highly desireable

· Solid engineering methodology and process-oriented design

· Understanding of manufacturing practices, DFM, and ability to communicate with manufacturing and NPI Engineering

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills a must.

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of project management principles and agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with renewable energy systems, including solar technologies.

· Unafraid to pursue new ideas while at the same time being results oriented.

· Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
