We are seeking a motivated individual to join our firm as a Commercial Roofing Estimator. As part of our team, you will generate detailed cost-analysis and scope of work estimates using historical data, contractor quotes, and site surveys. You provide clients with thorough explanations of pricing and cost details based on gathered data and supported with further estimates of projected maintenance costs and expected product lifetime. Our ideal candidate has extensive prior experience in commercial roofing, consulting, and cost estimating.
Job Functions:
- Plan, organize, and establish objectives and goals for duties assigned.
- Estimate job costs and submit proposals for review.
- Utilize bid log to track own bids and total bids closed
- Ensure processes are followed from pre-bid until handoff meeting
- Draft proposals to General Contractors, private clients, and other customers
- Be accountable for your own goals, decisions, and bids.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- 80%+ of estimation will be on reconstruction projects
- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
- Field customer requests and questions pre job
- Cooperate with Project Management, Service, and Office Departments
- Assist in budget development for operations
- High School Diploma or equivalent, college preferred
- Prior commercial roofing estimating experience (3 years minimum)
- Ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge of business and management principles
- Problem Solving Ability with the ability to manage difficult customers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel or other spreadsheet programs
- Documentation Skills
- Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with associates
- Math proficiency
- Strong negotiating Skills
- Quality Focus
- Prior experience with Xactimate's & insurance scopes preferred
