Job Description

Propulsion Controls Engineering has a current opening for a Quality Systems Specialist, onsite at our San Diego, California location.

PCE is an approved and recognized ABR with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), working as both a prime contractor and subcontractor for government ship repair. For more than 40 years, PCE has completed thousands of separate jobs and accomplished major system overhauls on virtually every class of ship currently operating in the U.S. Navy.

Position Summary

Provide site quality assurance and control compliance support and assist in maintaining company Quality Management System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide on site quality assurance and quality control compliance support.
  • Assist in maintaining and administering PCE’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Participate in review of QMS and investigations of QMS deviations and support execution and monitoring of corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) to ensure compliance is achieved and maintained.
  • May compile, evaluate and present Quality Systems data and metrics, including trends for review/meetings.
  • May identify and recommend policy and/or process improvements that impact and support QMS.
  • Ensure QMS meets requirements of Naval Sea (NAVSEA) Standard Items and ISO (International Organization for Standardization.)
  • Provides support to management in in development and manuals, procedures, processes and associated forms and records.
  • Receives, reviews and validates work completion performed by subcontractors.
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy QMS filing systems and training records and certifications for quality personnel.
  • Tracks and maintains quality performance of departments and individuals within departments.
  • Collaborates with Quality co-workers and cross functional teams related to documents and/or processes related to Quality Systems.
  • May provides employee training and technical support.
  • Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.
  • Other duties as assigned, requested or needed.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED certificate or equivalent education and experience.
  • 2-4 years’ experience (military/marine or ship repair industry preferred).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work at a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability and tolerance to meet due dates and deadlines and/or time constraints.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with ISO preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize Microsoft office applications.
