Sous Chef
- $18 to $20 Hourly
- Full-Time
The Sous-Chef reports directly to the Head Chef and is responsible for assisting with food preparation and overall functioning of the kitchen. This position is classified as Non Exempt and comes with a benefits package. The Jewish Community Center is an EOE (equal opportunity employer).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assists Chef with cooking, prepping, and storing food according to the Standards of the Dallas Health Department..
· Adheres to standard operating procedures for food quality and food handling, sanitation and cleanliness.
· Assists in preparing food according to prescribed recipes and the direction of the chef.
· Keeps Registered Food Service Manager’s certificate current.
· Staffs kitchen during Passover.
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
· Three years of cooking experience in a commercial kitchen environment
· Able to take and follow directions from supervisor
· Must have a current registered Food Service Manager’s certificate
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry items while walking
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time
· Demonstrates an energetic and positive attitude
· Dependable with excellent communication skills
· Professional in appearance, manner and tone
· Possess an attitude that makes for harmonious cooperation with customers, administration, and kitchen staff
· A team player who possesses the ability to work in a team environment
It is expected that the Assistant Chef will be a team player as part of the JCC Professional Staff. He/she is expected to be aware of the JCC Mission Statement and work within the frameworks of that mission. Responsibilities of the job may be changed as the needs of the JCC and/or community change.
