The Head Miller leads milling operations at less complex facilities, overseeing daily production activities for a defined range of wheat grists while ensuring alignment with Ardent Mills' safety, quality, and operational standards. In some larger milling environments, the Head Miller may operate under the direction of a Senior Head Miller to execute daily plans, support team development, and contribute to improvement efforts. Across all settings, this role is essential for maintaining product quality, operational efficiency, equipment performance, and the consistent execution of milling processes.
&bull: Partner with subject matter experts, HR, and learning stakeholders to assess business needs and translate them into scalable learning strategies and solutions.
&bull: Contribute to the design and development of engaging learning experiences across multiple formats, including digital, instructor-led, blended, and self-paced modules.
&bull: Apply instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to create clear, practical, and effective training content in partnership with the team.
&bull: Develop learning materials such as eLearning modules, facilitator guides, storyboards, job aids, and assessments using tools like Articulate, Rise, or Adobe Creative Suite.
&bull: Support implementation and administration of training within the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and strong user experience.
&bull: Contribute to establishing and maintaining learning design standards, templates, and tools to drive consistency and quality across training solutions.
&bull: Monitor training effectiveness through feedback, performance outcomes, and analytics; recommend and implement continuous improvements.
&bull: Leverage emerging learning technologies and best practices to enhance design, delivery, and scalability of training programs.
&bull: Collaborate with the broader Learning team to ensure alignment of training solutions with enterprise-wide learning frameworks and organizational strategies.
Essential skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of milling and leadership experience or High school diploma/GED with 6-9 years of milling and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated expertise on maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to implement LEAN practices and tools to improve process
  • Mastery of maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting cleaning, milling, and conveying systems
  • Basic knowledge of analyzing and developing mill pneumatic systems, mill flowsheets, and other product movement systems
  • Proficient incomputerized maintenance management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to create and modify CAD drawings of mill layouts, equipment components,and flowsheets
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and lead process improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and teach others milling machinery mechanics, operation and maintenance

Physicalrequirementsandworking conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as is required by the operating areas (i.e. safety glasses,protective footwear, hearing protection and, at times, a respirator)
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work a machine paced continuous process that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with conditionswhich include:
  • Heat/cold temperatures (inclement weather)
  • Indoor/outdoor environment
  • Dusty environment
  • Noisy environment
  • Frequent moving/vibration/ or other motion of equipment/processes
  • Elevated places, to include stairs/ladders
  • Ability to perform work at a computer and other administrative/managerial tasks

Otherconsiderations:
  • Ability to travel 5-10%
  • Willing to relocate as promotional opportunities exist throughout career
  • Willing to work weekends, holidays, 7-day weeks, and opposing shifts, when needed
  • Must be authorized to work in the Unites states without sponsorship now and in the future
