Job Title: Grants & Accounting Specialist

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Reports to: Accounting Manager

 

Since 1975 Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) has been an essential part of the Kansas City metro.  Our mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault, and to prevent sexual violence in our community. SUMMARY

This position is an integral part of the Accounting Team, focusing on financial management of grants. This position will work closely with the program and grant management team to provide the necessary financial information and analysis to maximize the impact of grant funds. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, and have a proactive approach to financial management to support the organization's goals and financial health.

 

JOB OBJECTIVES

  1. Grants
    1. Perform financial grants management activities including compiling documentation, billing, budgeting, and revisions.
    2. Assist with grants compliance activities by assembling requested reports for grant reviews and audits.
    3. Support all MOCSA departments by providing them with reports on grants to assist them with utilizing grants to maximize efficiency and ensure the funds are spent fully and correctly.
    4. Track and manage adherence to financial grant deadlines.
    5. Review financial grant reports and billings before they are submitted.

 

 

  1. Accounting
    1. Act as backup support for the accounting team in all areas which may include cash receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and any other areas needed.
    2. Other accounting duties as directed.

 

The responsibilities described represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to do all assigned responsibilities. Grant funds may only be used for the provision of approved activities.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

 Minimum Qualifications

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with learning and demonstrating proficiency in databases and/or accounting systems, handling confidential information, and detail-oriented work. Ability to problem solve proactively, driven to understand and improve data processes.   

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with grants management and accounting. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field. Excel certificate

Physical Demands

Work is typically performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with staff, administration, funders, and others encountered in the course of work.

 

WORK HOURS

This is a full-time position; business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.          

 

TRAVEL

Occasional travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.

 

BENEFITS

Full time benefits include 15 days of vacation, 15 paid holidays, 12 sick days, birthday holiday, winter break, 89% employer covered health insurance, 100% employer paid dental, life, and long-term disability Insurance, EAP, and 2% 403(b) match. The salary for this position is $48,000 - $61,000 depending on experience, credentials, and education. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees, and/or those with advanced credentials and experience.
