Job Description

Position Summary:

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for a project’s performance. This is accomplished through close collaboration with Project Engineers (PE’s), designers, in-house fabrication team, field personnel, and Senior Project Management. The PM may also function as a Project Engineer (PE) depending on the job size.

Qualifications:

  • 3-4 years of experience in steel and metal works.
  • Must be computer literate and tech savvy, and be comfortable with emailing
  • Must have experience with general computer programs and software including Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Project, .
  • Must have great communication skills, be adaptable, patient, a great leader with ability to listen and to communicate directions and ideas clearly.
  • Must be a team player capable of working with designers, engineers and installers on a single project.

Preferred, but not Required:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of higher education (Construction Management or Engineering
  • preferred) and/or (5) years of trade experience (without the degree).
  • Capable of managing up to $5M valued projects
  • Professional Engineer License valued.
  • Federal, state and local knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with Word, Excel, MS Project, and G-suite.
  • Knowledge with Primavera P6 Scheduling Software is valued.
  • Knowledge and application of: Construction estimating, Cost/project controls, Schedule management, Project documentation.
  • Engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices
  • required.
  • Must possess an understanding of contracts, documents, change orders &
  • specifications.
  • Clean DMV record

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Manage field operations and work sequences.
  • Coordinate with staff responsible for project construction.
  • Ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget.
  • Review project estimate and bid documents
  • Determine schedules, estimated job cost, procedures for accomplishing project staffing
  • requirements
  • Anticipate project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delay
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of a project
  • Must be willing to travel to the San Francisco bay area once or twice a week on average for meetings and/or surveying project sites.
