Job Description

HOURS: Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm OR 9:00am to 5:30pm

2 Positions Available


Primary Function:

Assists in the overall daily operations of Camp TeBece.

Description of Duties (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Primarily responsibilities may vary but include assisting the camp director with:

  • Scheduling, supervision, management and evaluation of staff
  • Enforcement of all Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northtowns (BGCNT), and New York State Health Department safety, compliance, program standards
  • Attendance record keeping and inputting for staff and campers
  • Development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all camp programs, activities, events, and associated schedules
  • Maintenance compliance with all rented spaces at Beaver Island State park in accordance with all BGCNT and New York State Park standards
  • Actively participates in daily staff meetings
  • Development, implementation, and evaluation of Counselor In Training (C.I.T) Program. In addition, the direct supervision of 6-8 teen volunteers
  • Parent communication through email, phone, and in person
  • Development and implementation of staff orientation
  • Primary responsibility can be, in part, the implementation of Art, Nature, Fishing, Physical Education, Beach/Swimming, and field trips.
  • Administratively opening and closing of camp
  • Processing payments and deposits as needed
  • Ordering/purchasing supplies and inventory of supplies
  • Budget compliance with established guidelines and goals
  • As needed, fill in as YDP for a specific group
  • Other assigned duties

Requirements:

  • Preferred 2 years of prior outdoor summer camp experience
  • Preferred 1 year of summer or after school program supervisory experience
  • Ability to assisting in managing 100 youth and 12 staff members daily
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to problem solve, trouble shoot, use reflective thinking, and work as a member of a dynamic team
  • Positive attitude
  • Valid Driver's License and have reliable transportation to camp daily
  • Must complete required CPR/First Aid/Swim Program certification prior to camp

Work Environment:

The employee will be working outside for the entire duration of our 8 week program. This is a fast paced, active child-focused environment that requires constant interaction and attention to the needs of campers and staff.

The physical demands that are described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: bend, stoop, kneel, twist, sit, reach with hands, grasp, stand, sit, hear, speak, have finger dexterity, walk, run (on various surfaces-dirt, grass, rock, wooden piers, and sand), lift up 40 lbs, push, pull and have visual,hearing acuity.
