Job description

The Brookline Recreation department is seeking qualified, energetic, and compassionate candidates for the 2026 summer camp season. Previous experience with camp programming or previous counselor experience is preferred. Hourly rates are based on camp position. The Summer Camp program will run from July 6, 2026 to August 14, 2026 at three elementary schools in Brookline, Ma.

Staff is required to attend 3 days of mandatory training during the week of June 30 - July 2 with specific schedules to be determined. Below is a brief description of the open positions. All candidates will go through a background check through the Criminal and Sexual offender database as required by the Town of Brookline health department.

CAMP DIRECTOR

  • Schedule: July 6, 2026 to August 14, 2026; M-F: 8:00am to 4:00pm
  • Pay Rate: $22 per hour
  • Requirements: Must be minimum 21 years’ old.
  • General Responsibilities: To ensure for a quality summer camp program and is responsible for the day-to-day operation and implementation of the camp program. Additional responsibilities include, curriculum creation and implementation, helping to coordinate and execute the counselor orientation, and pre-season administration work including Camp Doc setup. The Director is also responsible for the health & safety of all participants while working as the designated Health Care Supervisor.
