About USH Division

The US Health Division was established in March 2020 as Dimagi began supporting numerous public health agencies' COVID-19 response efforts across several American cities and states. We are a team of passionate technologists, project managers, and public health experts designing digital systems to support public health programs and improve health outcomes across the United States. We are proud to be supporting important initiatives - including behavioral health projects with state agencies and working with community-based organizations.

About the Position

Dimagi is seeking a Proposal Director for its US Health division to lead competitive bid and RFX (e.g., requests for proposals and requests for information) channel business development. This role will be instrumental in securing new opportunities for Dimagi in the United States. This position will be affiliated with our office in Cambridge, MA, but is open to remote employment within the US.

The Proposal Director will join the US Health Division's Partnerships team, reporting to the Senior Director of Partnerships, with a primary focus on the US government market. Your role will involve leading our responses to RFX opportunities in the US market over the channel lifecycle, from identification to submission.

This role will be at the forefront of identifying and securing new projects and partnerships for our US Health division. We are looking for thoughtful, impact-driven candidates with strong writing and project management skills to execute the delivery of proposals from start to finish.

Responsibilities
  • Provide functional oversight to at least one full-time junior team member focused on the RFX channel and several part time resources allocated as needed
  • Accountable for the lifecycle of responses to RFX opportunities in the US market, from identification to submission
    • Guide research on potential RFX opportunities and identify which to prioritize for response
    • Contribute to and direct all drafting and coordinate reviews by team members who bring technical or other subject matter expertise
    • Responsible for strategic position for each opportunity, directing or conducting research related to potential opportunities and customers and comparing to Dimagi offering and goals
    • Maintain regular communication with RFX team members on progress of a proposal, (review, response, blockers and updates to strategy) to ensure response is progressing appropriately against the deadline
    • Interface with other Dimagi teams around RFX work, including legal support, security and technical support, and teams developing demonstration applications, while suggesting improvements for cross-team collaboration over time
    • Review and provide final sign off on proposals before submission
  • Responsible for operational management and process strengthening for the RFX channel
    • Utilize existing operational processes and make regular improvements to ensure efficiency and success of the RFX responses, for example tracking performance metrics, setting writing and review processes, and creating reusable content
    • Consult with division leadership on ways to improve Dimagi's competitiveness in the RFX channel
  • Ultimate accountability for all RFX team OKRs to ensure their successful completion
  • Ultimate accountability for the success of the RFX channel annual mandate to submit 8+ RFPs, with 6+ at 1 million dollars or more
Relevant Experience

At the core of this position, we are looking for a collaborative and curious team member.

  • 6+ years of professional experience in business development with at least 3+ years responding to competitive opportunities (RFPs, RFIs, etc.) for business
  • Experience at the intersection of technology and healthcare
  • Knowledge of US government procurement processes, ideally for health and social service IT
  • Knowledge of the US Healthcare System
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including conveying complex concepts and recommendations in a clear and persuasive style tailored to match different audiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Able to work cross-functionally across teams, keeping stakeholders apprised of plans and performance
  • Experience using collaboration and project management tools such as Google Suite and Asana
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
Bonus Experience
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as Information, Public Health, Communications, or Journalism
  • B2B business development or sales experience in the healthcare technology, social impact, or Software-as-a-Service space
  • Experience supporting strategic direction for a product or sales/business development channel
  • Network of other vendors, SIs, or primes for potential joint proposals

The estimated salary range for this position is 78,543 to 121,940 USD annually. Your final salary within the range will be dependent on where you are geographically based and might fall outside of this estimated range.
