Job Summary:
The A-STEP Education Navigator's responsibilities include the administration of all matters related to ASTEP candidates enrolling, registering, and completing post-secondary education. This may consist of but is not limited to, the following: assisting students with registration, enrollment, financial aid resources, career assessments, monitoring, reporting, and intervention if required. Referring graduates to employment services upon graduation. Monitoring the progress of ASTEP students who may attend other universities and colleges.

Job Duties:
- Work with A-STEP management to develop systems for monitoring student performance, implementing student success plans, and monitoring student participation.
- Work with A-STEP management to identify and establish relationships with affiliate organizations.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing efforts through participation in seminars, conference calls, surveys, etc.
- Knowledgeable of available financial aid resources and the application process, including but not limited to the FAFSA and institution-specific scholarships
- Ability to support co-workers to deliver services to students when needed.
- Ability to attend functions in the evening and on weekends as required.
- Managing Student Performance
Maintain the enrollment criteria and process
- Coordinate testing and advising needed for each student.
- Assess if the student is an appropriate candidate for the program
- Ability to identify barriers to program completion and offer solutions
- Coordinate external resources that will better support eligible students. (i.e., childcare, transportation, housing, etc.)
- Assist students through the enrollment and financial aid process.
- Identify potential problems and intervene as necessary to ensure student success. This may include leveraging the services of affiliated organizations.
- Assist management in hosting graduation celebrations for students.
- Maintain database monitoring student progress and case notes.
- Must have transportation to meet with students and staff as needed.
Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of the business.

Personal Qualities and Skills Preferred:
- Ability to motivate A-STEP candidates to strive for success.
- Significant experience or educational background, post-secondary education, or social work (e.g., school counselors or college advisors).
- Demonstrated experience in working with schools/colleges.
- Ability to train and coach in-school/ college coordinators and other college system participants.
- Strong understanding and sensitivity to the perspectives of low-income populations.
- Strong understanding of affiliate program offerings, including participation requirements and benefits.
- Ability to work as a team with co-workers to deliver program services to students.
- Ability to instill a vision for candidate success and develop teamwork among all supporting parties.
- Ability to develop a mindset of continuous improvement for all A-STEP candidates.
- Ability to listen and observe to understand the needs of individual A-STEP candidates.
- Ability to use spoken communications to establish rapport with and influence all supporting parties.
- Ability to write effective performance appraisals, case notes, and correspondence related to candidate management.
