Student Navigator

220-Day Position

Anticipated Opening Pending Final Grant Award

The ROE 47 Office of Professional Learning & Educational Services is seeking a Student Navigator to support youth and young adults participating in career exploration, early credentialing, and work based learning experiences. This is an anticipated position contingent upon final grant award and funding approval.

About the Position

The Student Navigator serves as a workforce development professional who connects youth ages 1624 with career pathways, Work-Based Learning experiences, postsecondary education, industry-recognized credentials, and employment opportunities. Working closely with school districts, employers, community colleges, workforce partners, and community agencies, the Student Navigator provides individualized career coaching, workforce navigation, and participant support designed to prepare youth for long-term career success.

Responsibilities include recruiting and enrolling participants, developing Individual Employment Plans (IEmPs), coordinating Work-Based Learning opportunities, assisting participants in overcoming barriers to education and employment, supporting credential attainment, connecting participants to postsecondary education and training, and facilitating successful transitions into employment, apprenticeships, military service, or continued education.

The Student Navigator will collaborate extensively with employers to expand Work-Based Learning opportunities, including job shadowing, internships, clinical experiences, workplace tours, mentoring, and paid work experiences aligned with regional workforce needs.

A complete job description is attached. The anticipated start date is August 15, 2026, contingent upon final grant approval, with the potential for earlier onboarding and training if funding timelines allow.

Office Location

The Student Navigator will be based within the ROE 47 service area, with flexible office space and a significant amount of time spent working in schools, employer locations, colleges, and community partner sites throughout Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside Counties.

Compensation

Salary Range: $46,000$50,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.

This is a full-time, 220-day, IMRF-eligible position. ROE 47 offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid sick and personal leave, paid holidays, professional development opportunities, and mileage reimbursement for approved business travel.

Travel

Regional travel throughout Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside Counties is an essential function of this position. The successful candidate should expect to travel frequently between schools, employer sites, postsecondary institutions, and community agencies.
