Medical Coding Supervisor

Medical AR Management Services located in Houston, Texas is seeking a qualified and certified Medical Coding Supervisor, preferably with experience in surgical pathology and or radiology to join our progressive team of Revenue Cycle Specialists. This position shall lead our team of coding experts, thereby ensuring appropriate documentation for code application, compliance with industry guidelines, and resolving any coding denials.
Job Duties
- Lead a team of coding experts.
- Guide and educate our team of Medical Coders
- Professionally represent as our Client's Billing Office
- Communicate effectively with clients, physicians, and team members.
- Determine proper billing procedures/codes according to medical specialties, with an emphasis on pathology, radiology coding, as required.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10 coding to patient charts.
- Research codes using tools provided,
- Investigate accounts to resolve any coding denials along with any trends or patterns.
- Audit accounts for proper coding, documentation, charge entry, and receipt of proper payments/adjustments according to contracts.
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and apply best practices.
- Comply with state/federal regulations and adhere to HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of pathology, radiology, and corresponding medical coding
- Understanding and application of CMS initiatives including NCCI Edits, MIPS and NCD/LCD polices
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM
- Knowledge and understanding of the CPT guidelines.
- Experience in abstracting medical records for accurate CPT code assignments.
- Atleast 5 years of medical coding experience
- One year coding pathology or radiology required.
- CPC or CCA
